Ovi Share Redesigned

We've redesigned the Ovi Share website from top to bottom to make your media sharing experience better. The new design brings to life photos and videos from you and your friends and makes it easier to find the features you need most.

The Fishbowl

Media glides by straight from your activity feed on the home page. Embed this into your own web site to share your experience.

What's New?

We’ve improved many features based on your feedback. The changes include:

  • Better Sharing - You can now share photos and videos individually without having to create an album first. Plus, comments on an item show to all viewers.
  • Higher Quality Images - A new photo transcoding platform produces higher quality images. The larger size on the media page shows more detail.
  • NewMediaPageImproved Media Page - The media page has more room for your photos and videos--see with whom they are shared, the comments and the capture time and place.
  • Album Page - Channels have been renamed to Albums and the most recently used albums display on the home page for quick access. Plus, now you can change the number of thumbnails shown on one page.
  • Easier Experience - Tasks such as sharing, commenting and organizing are now easier to find and use with simpler menus and in-place actions.

Quality Upgrade for Existing Photos
Because of the large number of photos stored in Ovi, it will take a few days for us to upgrade all media to the new quality and sizes. In this time you will see some issues with the rotation, location data, and others. This will be fixed automatically, and all your photos will look better.

Other Features
As part of this transformation, we've disabled some features. We realize that some of your favorite features are missing, but don't worry, we are working to improve them. Also, Ovi Share now only allows uploading image and video file types. With support for over 100 file types we work with the most popular media formats used for capturing and sharing your life. To upload other file types you can now use the Ovi Files service.

Enjoy the new site and if you have any feedback just use our Contact Us page.

- The Ovi Share Team

UPDATE:
We are aware of the problem with existing embedded slideshows. We are working on a fix to release right away and will let you know as soon as it is released. Existing embedded media will automatically be fixed so you don't have to make any changes on your sites.

Account System Migration

Hello Share Members,

As part of our ongoing efforts to improve your Ovi experience, we have merged our login systems between Share on Ovi and Ovi.com. This conversion allows members to use one common Nokia user name and password to access multiple Ovi services.

While most Share accounts transitioned smoothly, a number of accounts had to be modified to accommodate the transition.

I Can't See My Media
First you may be able to log in but may not see your media. Due to the way we had to migrate users, you may end up with two accounts: your ovi.com account and your share account with "-share" added to it. This is most likely due to different or unverified contact email or mobile number on the accounts. If you don't see your media it is likely in the other account. First, try browsing to http://share.ovi.com/users/<oldusername>-share to confirm your public media is still available. Then use the instructions below to access your other account. If this does not work please contact support below.

Trouble Signing In
If you are unable to sign in with your usual user name and password please try these steps first:

1. Click the following link to reset your password: Nokia Account Password Reminder

    • If you use your email address to reset your password your user name will be sent to you along with a link to reset your password.
    • If you use a mobile number the SMS will only contain a link to reset your password.
    • Note: If you don't remember which email or mobile number you had used, you can try different ones and the system will send the message to whichever is listed in the account.
    • Note: If your email or mobile number was the same on both accounts then skip to step 5 below.

2. After the reset, sign in with your email address or mobile number (whichever you used to reset your account) and your newly created password.

3. Your current user name will appear at the top of the page. Note it may have changed.

4. You may sign using this user name and new password from this point on.

5. If these steps do not work please email directly to community.share@ovi.com. This is a special hotline for resolving these migration issues.

ShareOnline on My Mobile Phone Has Stopped Working
If your user name or password have changed you will need to reenter them in the ShareOnline client. To do this open ShareOnline from the applications menu, go to Settings, and then under Accounts update your account settings.

My User Name Changed and I Don't Like It
If your user name changed to "<username>-share" you can change it by following the instructions in our help topic. Please note that in this process all media in the desired account username will be deleted and replaced with the media from your old -share account.

Support Contact
If you are still having trouble accessing your account please email us at: community.share@ovi.com. We know that the above self-help steps are not working for some users and are standing by to help you.

We are sorry for the trouble this has caused some of you and we apologize for the length of downtime during this transition. Please be assured that we have worked hard to minimize the number of users affected.

Sincerely,
The Share on Ovi Team

P.S.  Thank you for your feedback. We have updated this post to clarify the instructions. Also, we have disabled comments due to avoid confusion and to focus support inquiries on the email address above. We are rapidly resolving issues reported to that email. Thank you for your understanding.

Personal, Simple, Better!

Sharers,

As you can tell, we have been busy again with a whole new round of updates for Share on Ovi. This development cycle was focused on improving the user experience at Share.ovi.com. Here are the details:

Making Share more personal

Share on Ovi has always been about sharing pictures and videos with your friends, family, or the world.  Now we’ve made some changes to Share to make it an even more personal experience - connecting you with your media and the latest additions from your contacts right off the bat.  The new home page is simpler, less cluttered, and easier to navigate – and it gets you to what you care about the most right away.

ShareHome

Making Share simple to use

Creating channels to organize and share your media just got a lot simpler, and our upload page is now a lot easier to use.  All of the power and detail is still there if you want it, but it’s now much more straight forward to just name a new channel, set it to public or private, and get your media into it quickly so that you can share it with your world.

Better, faster, and more reliable video

We’ve changed the way we handle videos so that they get posted faster and look even better than before.  The new m4v format that we’re using for mobile video is a big step up in quality, and our new transcoding technology can handle even more file types so that most videos can be played back in the browser window.

Not only does this improve your new videos, but we’re going to go back to the beginning and upgrade all of the videos that have ever been posted. It may take us a few days, but we’ll get them all.

As always your thoughts and feedback is very important to us. Please feel free to respond to this post or visit our forums to offer ideas and feedback.

Keeping Share About Personal Media

We get some really great pictures and videos posted to Share on Ovi.  We see media of world events, family vacations, outdoor adventures, exotic places, and everyday life in just about every corner of the globe.  Sometimes, we also see photos or videos that don’t belong on Share.  Our Terms spell out in pretty good detail what is not okay to post on Share, and we have a flagging system that our members can use bring items to our attention.

Flagging_3

When something is flagged, we take a look, and if it clearly goes against the content guidelines, we remove it – simple as that.  While we don’t want to limit people from expressing themselves freely through their images, and we encourage people to exercise tolerance around edgy media, we do ask for your help to keep the site clean of adult materials, as well as commercial media or spam (we get a lot of commercial videos), or other universally offensive stuff.

Thank you for helping us keep the community enjoyable by all.

New Views on Share!

The most recent update to Share on Ovi includes a couple really cool new features and enhancements. Here’s the overview:

PicLens

PicLens is an innovative and unique way to immerse yourself in the media viewing experience. Install PicLens to view and browse media on Share in a full screen, interactive mode. PicLens is easy to install and use. Visit www.piclens.com to download and install the plug-in. After installation, simply mouse over media on Share and click on the PicLens play button that appears in the lower left hand corner to view. The PicLens viewing option is available on all Share pages with the RSS indicator displayed in the footer.

Large Image View

We heard your feedback! Members in the Support Forums suggested we increase the size of the Large image view. We did. When you click on an image to view a larger version you now have the option to view Medium, Large, Extra Large, and the Original. Depending on the original file, the Extra Large view will create images as wide as 1280 pixels.

Imagesize

New photos posted to Share will present the Extra Large view immediately. It will take some time to render the new size view for existing photos. Be on the lookout for the updated view of your media.

New Introduction Video
In additional to the above mentioned features and enhancements, we have also created a new Share on Ovi Introduction video. Whether you are new to Share or a longtime veteran, take a look at the video. It is a great overview of all the great capabilities Share on Ovi has to offer.

Your feedback and thoughts are always appreciated. Feel free to comment here or start a feedback thread in our forums.

Thank you for using Share on Ovi for your personal media sharing needs.

New Domain... Same Great Service!

You may have noticed some subtle changes around here lately. Just look up… no more twango.com. The Share team has just released some new updates to the service. The main focus of this development cycle was the change in domain name from Twango.com to Share.ovi.com. This was a huge undertaking, impacting the user interface and behind the scene. Overall our development team made over 27,000 code changes as part of the rebranding effort.

The changes in the domain should have a minimal impact on Share on Ovi use. The most important thing to remember is that anything related to the twango.com domain will now be displayed as share.ovi.com. A couple items to keep in mind:

·    Uploads via email and MMS should now be addressed to: UserID.Channel.Secretword@share.ovi.com

·    Embed codes and widgets will now show share.ovi.com

Note: Use of twango.com will continue to work by redirecting, but it is a good idea to get in the habit of using share.ovi.com

We are all working hard to bring you the features you want and need. Please feel free to share your thoughts and feedback in the Share on Ovi Forums.

Thanks for using Share on Ovi for your personal sharing needs.

Great New Features!

The Share team at Ovi is working hard to bring you the features you want and remove limitations to how you can use and enjoy Share on Ovi.  Here are some of the most recent changes.

Unlimited Bandwith & Unlimited Storage!
Have a lot of media to upload and share with your friends and family?  Tired of hitting your limit on bandwidth with pictures still in the camera?  Share on Ovi now offers free unlimited uploads, storage, and viewing.  Yes – free.  Yes – unlimited.  No – strings.

Mobile Video
You can now view your favorite videos on your mobile device by visiting share.ovi.com/mobile.  New 3GP transcoding means that your video collection on Share on Ovi is now compatible with most web-enabled mobile devices.  Now you can shoot, upload, and view video all from the comfort of wherever you are.  No PC required!

Share your location with Google Maps
Add location information to your media with geo-tags.  Geo-tagging lets you show the world where in the world you are, and lets you find other media and members by location.  Putting your media in the context of where it was produced adds to your story and helps others appreciate you and your media even more.

Share
You can add geo-tags when you upload your media, or you can add tags to media that’s already on Share on Ovi by using the Edit Media action.
